Bizum goes one step further and allows the unification of the limits for Spanish banks that were previously set by them individually.
With more than 30 affiliated banks, Bizum —this well-known application for sending money instantly— it has become one more in people’s lives since its launch in 2016.
Bizum is available to clients of CaixaBank, BBVA, Santander, Sabadell, Bankia, Popular, Kutxabank, iberCaja, Bankinter, Laboral Kutxa, ceccabank, CajaSur, imaginbank, oficinadirecta.com. It is also found in Caja Rural, Unicaja, Yopago, Abanca, BMN, Liberbank, Mediolanum, EVO, Caja de Ingenieros, Cajalmendralejo, Spain Duero, Openbank and Deutsche Bank.
This service has always offered limits depending on the bank with which you operate, since in the end they are the ones that decide the maximum and minimum.
For example, Banco Santander established that the minimum amount per operation was 1 cent. In the case of BBVA —the one that restricts the most— it set a maximum limit of 500 euros for each transaction between individuals. This has also happened, for example, with ING or Unicaja Banco.
However, it seems that things have changed and to avoid problems all banks in Spain will have From now on, the limit in a single operation to pay through this service is set at 1,000 euros, among other changes.
New unified limits for Bizum
As reported by El Confidencial Digital by financial sources, The following unifications are established for any Spanish bank:
- Limit for a single operation: 1,000 euros
- Maximum total amount that can be paid by Bizum on the same day: 2,000 euros
- Total maximum monthly amount: 5,000 euros
- Minimum amount that can be paid by Bizum in a single operation: 50 cents
- Limit for the number of operations: 60 per day
For example, CaixaBank, BBVA or ING that established their maximum limit of a single operation by Bizum at 500 euros, now take advantage of this union and it will be —like the rest— 1,000 euros.
With already 7 years of existence, Bizum now faces the challenge of maintaining its great success based on continuing to increase its users and access possibilities, such as joint purchases to distribute expenses or implement the payment system in companies.
